This group show, featuring four master artists and curated by UNLV MFA graduate, Yo Fukui, is being presented in partnership with the CAC as a cultural exchange of ideas between four artists working in different art genres. “Defeat the Future” incorporates video installation, paintings, sculptural installation, photography, and performance art and highlights dynamic initiatives in culture and the arts currently at work in the margins of the art world and in American society.

The artist in the role of warrior trying to defeat an imaginary monster we all have a tendency to create, at times, in our minds, the “Future”. The goal of this exhibition is to create a paradigm where community-centric contemporary art and artist can be a tool for public service as a language for the exploration and investigation of the broader aspects of culture and society. A magnet that brings different cultures and ideologies together in order to strengthen a more inclusive definition of community and by using art and diversity as tools to demonstrate how both can help us understand the emotions behind what people share that helps them connect with each other.

Coming Soon: Su Limbert will be our featured local artist in February's East Side Projects.
